The Last July Movie Review: Juno

This one's a bit special, innit? Well, it sure is one of those movies they make you think about life a bit. It's not necessarily bad, of course, but just has different point of view. And I like movies with different points of view, gripping plot and a good moral lesson. Not all movies possess that anymore. It is yet another teen movie (or at least about teens) and showing a lot how things go in high-school for Juno and all that, but I gotta say it surprised me in a very good way. I surely didn't expect such plot twist, good acting and unravelling of events. One of the many good qualities that this movie possess is definitely how things turn out in the end. It takes you by surprise on every step. It has a fun beginning and surely an ending that will bring tears in your eyes. Juno MacGuff is a seemingly extraordinary teen with a slightly inconvenient problem ahead of her. The movie begins with Juno taking the third pregnancy test so far and like they say, third time is the...

J Stands For: Julie & Julia

Based on two miraculous true stories about two women who had much more in common than just passion for cooking, the movie was a great representation of how no matter what you go through life, you should go after what truly makes you happy, even though if you might come across more than just one failure on the road. Like Julia Child herself said: "Find something you're passionate about and keep it tremendously interested in." What better advice can a person give? Coming from a person who has (sort of) already found her "thing", I can say that the key to success is keep doing the thing you are doing. I've got another great quote in store, this time from infamous Winston Churchill: "Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It's the courage to continue that counts." What great words, wouldn't you agree? Now, this whole movie was, clearly, about persuading yourself into doing the impossible, setting yourself a challenge. It's important t...

Second July Review: Jane Eyre

What an amazing, emotional movie. I didn't read the book though, which was written by Emily Bronte's sister, Charlotte Bronte, but the movie itself was already spoken in very difficult, old English language which can be hard for a non-natural speaker. Anyway, this movie doesn't even need words for a viewer to understand how much pain there is present and how complicated the whole situation was. The horrors that haunted poor Jane for whole her youth. The injustice and cruelty that were caused to her. Life was very difficult for a poor young girl back then and Jane had more than just a taste of it. Despite always being misunderstood, judged and seemingly guilty of every single thing, she kept her dignity, humility, respect and the one true fire within her. Not an easy job to be done, that's for sure. The past was Jane's greatest enemy. It never left her side. Even though she might seemed strong and somehow fearless on the outside, she had a sensitive and weak side, ...

Women And Makeup: The Unbreakable Friendship

Even though I do not belong among those women who use make-up on daily basis and especially a lot, I am only talking about this from personal experience of how I see the world response to women who do wear lots of make-up every day and how is this affecting young women. I follow lots of gorgeous make-up gurus as on Facebook as on Youtube and I think some really do know their business (since they are paid by Youtube and Google themselves it shouldn't really be a problem). But many people do think of this in a really misguided way. Because make-up and applying make-up on your own face or someone else's is truly a work of art. Its effect and results are more than just stunning and I can understand why girls fell in love with it. I will write lots of my points of view, pros and cons of the whole thing and about the girls themselves and how the society is accepting it. First off, my point of view on make-up is completely different as some girls might have. It's just I don'...

July Review: Friends With Benefits

I know this is not really alphabetically in order as I imagined when I first started doing this project (which is actually really lots of fun, but I really don't have enough time because of the finals and everything), but I watched just yesterday and I wanted to do this as quick as possible to still have the whole idea of what I wanted to write about settled in my mind. Anyway, I plan on doing lots and lots of movie reviews in the next couple of months, mostly because there will be no school to hold me back (and yes, I am aware it should be the other way around)! I just wanted to do this first as the whole impression of the movie is still very firmly settled in my mind. Again, I've watched this movie over three times and I did have this stage where I simply hated the movie, but then I was a bit bored and it was still among top movies on my "humorous/romance comedy movies" and so I chose to watch it again. For the fourth time. But, as I said, it is on the top of my li...
