Didn't really expect that now, did you? Well, I must admit I rarely watch animated movies, and to be honest - I found out that I've missed out so much in my life! I mean, of course I happened to go see a cartoon in the cinema, but I was never really a fan of it. But guess what? They actually teach you a thing or two. Though don't get me wrong; I've always loved cartoons since I was little. Tom & Jerry, Scooby Doo and similar. I lived for these shows and now they're all gone! Guess the world has really changed...
But now's really not the time to be depressed and all nostalgic about how the world could be different because we're about to sink in our little imaginary world, full of new adventures awaiting for us! I might sound a little bit over-excited, but just go watch it and you'll see what I mean. It might take you by surprise because it's not a movie you'd usually expect from Disney. Sure, it's nice and romantic and HILARIOUS, but that's not all. At times it has such deep moments of wisdom it really gets you thinking! And the whole scenario... I almost pissed myself while watching this from so many funny scenes and also cried my heart out to the sad ones. It's a mixture of feelings and emotions (which I'm partly already used to due to having to live a tough life of a professional fan girl) and filled with all sorts of surprises. A very nice graphic as well, may I add. I could say Disney is approving from day to day, although this does not apply to Disney Channel. They have absolutely no taste in anything anymore, it's only going down, to be frank.
Anyway, ready to deepen into the whole movie like you've never had before? Well, if I may give you a precious word of advice - stay in touch for more!
First, let me start off by just saying how wonderfully the whole kingdom is represented. The colors are almost fairy-like (well, of course they are duh), and the landscape is absolutely stunning. And it's all made of human imagination, under one's own hand! It's like witchcraft. The actual movie is about witchcraft, though I'll watch out I won't spit too many juicy details out. Nonetheless, I love the whole harmony between things and nature itself, it seems unreal to imagine someone coming up with all that. That's what makes the whole thing so surreal and even more magical. Thought I could say for myself I wasn't a big fan of animated movies (except for Disney's), or at least not watching them as regularly as others might. But this movie caught my attention from the moment it was released and I did not make a mistake seeing it myself as well.
The whole story and plot is a lot different from what you would expect from Disney. It's not a cliche romance story with all the same characters. It's complicated and tough, just like real life is. And that's what Disney is so clever at. It kind of prepares or rather directs children in the right direction, not having big expectations from life. Not that they might would, I mean they're only children. But things you grow up with can effect your future quite greatly, even more than you can imagine. That's why it's so much important to teach them the right thing from an early age. Animated movies are so much more than just fun. At one point you'll be dying of laughter and on the other you'll cry yourself out. It does that to you, and that's called identifying yourself with the characters and movie itself. It's rare (at least with me) when you can get really emotional and deep about something, it's usually not worth it. But this one is definitely worth discussing about and justifying (although it doesn't need it) why it is an Academy Award winner.
First off, let me just say a thing or two about that soundtrack. It is the most unique and special I've ever heard, and I've heard lots of them, trust me. You wouldn't really expect that much effort from a animated movie, but those can really get you by surprise, so beware of them! It creates magic atmosphere just as you would like it to be and it's perfect. It fulfills all of your wishes without you even saying them. It just reads your mind the whole time and Disney, once again, succeeded in all their glory.
To think what they've achieved so far, how many hearts they have won, it's almost unimaginable that this little cartoon has overachieved everything. It truly deserves it's award that is the highest accomplishment in the movie industry. I've always loved Disney and their sense for creating such wonderful imaginary world, no matter where it is located (underwater or on the dry land), it always manages to bring the child in us alive.
Now back to the plot. I must say I was fascinated and overwhelmed by the whole scenario and dialog. What I loved the most, and what I also happened to notice most, was how it differs from other Disney movies regarding to the whole complication and the peak in the story. In almost every movie there's a lost princess that somehow finds her way to the guy and they eventually fall in love. That's all sweet and alright. But not in this story. Remember when Ana and Hans met? How they instantly thought they have that one thing and announced their wedding to the queen Elsa? I loved how Elsa reacted completely on the contrary as to any sister would in other Disney movie would have. It's not only the sisterly love that bonds them, but complete and utter ration that Elsa possessed and Ana was missing. It shows how we all need an 'Elsa' in our life, to clear our eyes when we are blinded by some thing. Even though Ana did not listen to her and when that little icy incident happened and how she went looking for her and met Kristoff completely by accident. And guess what, they both eventually, after huge amount of adventure they enjoyed together, found out they are meant only for each other. That is how real love is born; from spontaneity not from craving and yearning for it.
Another thing I caught right at the end of the movie is how Elsa's curse can only be cured by true love. This isn't anything new in the movie industry, but the way they presented it is truly amazing one of a kind. Her curse was eventually cured by Ana's love for her, the true sisterly love. It was not portrayed in that 'happy ending' way, but in the way we can now truly admire and identify with. It shows family really does always stand by our side, no matter what we've done or where life has taken us. This movie showed we can always rely on the true family love and that they'll always be there for us. It's a guideline not many movies possess for it is truly hard to do such amazing thing. But once you do, it's practically fantastic. It's not another movie cliche we'd expect from the evergreen romance movies company, it's something fresh and new. We can always use a bit of that.
