Best 7 Horror Movies To Watch On Halloween

It's time to pick costumes, disguise your face and go trick-or-treating! Even though this fun tradition is not so popular in our country, but I still love it. It's like you can make fun of yourself for a day, forget about prejudices and have fun. The best part is how people celebrate it different ways: little kids go from house to house and ask for candy with their creative costumes, teens go partying and having a good time and elder people help carving pumpkins, decorating the house and giving young kids candy. I think it's a very creative "holiday" where anybody can participate. Although I didn't carve a pumpkin this year (well, the day has twenty-four hours!) I like this festive day of the year. We had this lecture the other day in English class with a natural-speaker teacher from Ireland who explained the traditions and Jack-O-Lantern story, he also presented us the scariest places around Scotland, England and Ireland. I was pretty freaked out!

Anyway I also really like the whole mystic, spooky and creepy theme. I like how people disguise their faces and dress up like zombies, witches, vampires or skeletons. Kinda brings the creative side in you, doesn't it? It's fun how you can carve anything in pumpkins: your favorite movie character or hero, a public figure or just a spooky face. We don't have limits here and you can go all the way.
Another fun part of the Halloween is the "scary movie" part. How if you don't feel like carving out pumpkins or having annoyingly happy children crowd around your doorstep or going out on a party, you can choose a "spooky movie night"! It's like if you want to keep it down this year you can totally still enjoy this freaky holiday by watching a creepy-movie-marathon all cinemas have. But I'd recommend you go with someone because I wouldn't be able to sleep all night! There are many movies you can watch also at home:

  1. Sleepy Hollow: Why? Because There's hardly a better fit for a creepy night in than director Tim Burton, and his take on the Washington Irving short story is ghoulish, intriguing fun. Plus, there's Johnny Depp, so what's better? Watch trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDThtjvIp8w
  2. Poltergeist: Why? Unnervingly, this ghost story will leave you wary of your own television. Creepy! Watch trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ytjaMfoF2M
  3. Evil Dead: Why? This new update to the 1981 original eschews some of the camp and piles on the gory scares, making it a decidedly creepier pick for the holiday. Can't wait! Watch trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuwVa4a9I8I
  4. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Why? More slaughterhouse than haunted house, this classic still chills. Zoinks! Watch trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vs3981DoINw
  5. Panic Room: Why? This harrowing home invasion movie is a realistic nail-biter totally devoid of ghouls or the supernatural, making it a choice pick for those who know they'll be triple-checking their locks when the movie's done. Spooky! Watch trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utTnLjJgxz4
  6. I Saw The Devil: Why? The idea that revenge corrodes the soul of the avenger is an old theme in vigilante movies, perhaps because it’s the only moral route down an exceedingly dark path; otherwise, retribution and lawlessness rule the day. Scary! Watch the trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwWgp1bqVwE
  7. [REC]: Why? This is not exactly the type of movie one should expect substantive statements on society or even any kind of character depth. The characters are genuine but have little to no depth. However, this is solely because [REC] is a movie of pure insanity, one that by its very nature cannot pause to allow the audience to reflect upon the characters or lofty sociological themes. This actually works in the movie’s favor, making it a force of pure, unrelenting horror. Crazy! Watch trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGJ_jPKOj1c

The Best Things In Life Are Free: True Or False?

We are constantly surrounded by statements like: "The best things come free." and all that positive thinking along. But is it really true? I mean, I get it that when people say that they mostly mean things like love, joy and friends. These things do, however, come free, but by free it's mostly considered as not including money. For all these things that I counted, true dedication and believing yourself are present and these kind of things are what truly makes a person rich. Not money, not some kick-ass career (that may have influenced on your inner self, though) or super yachts. It's something that comes from within and that really takes effort and time to possess. And to get there, it actually takes a whole different kind of price for what you really want. It demands hard work that is often not quite what rich people own. There is a beautiful quote by Patrick Meagher: "Some people are so poor all they have is money." And that is, sadly, often correct. Peopl...

Movie Review: The Constant Gardener

Long time no see! Yup, I am back or rather - I'll try and keep posting regularly as much as time will let me. Things have been a mess lately and it has been hard keeping up with life's pace itself, let alone finding time to write. But, now I have something juicy to write about, too. Since I'm completely done with all those cheesy romantic comedies, I've decided to do write a review on this one. I've decided to watch this movie simply because of two reasons: 1.) Ralph Fiennes (needless to say why, though I shall explain it to you with great enthusiasm: he is one of my favorite and one of the best actors there ever lived in my humble opinion) 2.) It's not a cheesy romantic comedy (like I've said before, I am finished with those). And I loved the movie for multiple reasons which you will get to know with in the next couple of paragraphs. I think I've always loved that kind of movies, but I end up watching the boring ones with hopeless romantic teenagers i...

American Beauty

There are only few things in this world that are able to truly leave me speechless, astounded, and numb. I tend to believe I have seen a lot of things that have touched me right to the depths of my soul, making me feel like there is so much more life behind ordinary things. And those occassions are the reason we stay alive. May it be a soft breeze caressing your skin on a surprisingly warm March day that reminds you of the hidden wonders of nature, a sentimental gesture shared between a mother and a child that demonstrates the meaning of humanity and unconditional love or simply a flash of a moment in an ordinary day that keeps you sane and secured, knowing there is some magic hidden in these ordinary, seemingly unnoteworthy moments that we need to treasure and remember forever, and that even though we are aware of this magic, we could never reach it. And that is the beauty of it. However, when I saw this movie it truly shook me, in a good way. I also recently watched Good Will Hunti...
