7 Reasons To Talk To A Stranger

I love reading all those spontaneous stories about two totally random people meeting on a subway train and starting chatting, or bumping into each other at a library and get into talking about their favorite books and writers, or spilling coffee on someone while they're writing something and it is all like hate at first sight and so many lovely stories and events going on right now just about anywhere in the world. I love it when something like this happens, because unexpected and unplanned moments are the best. They create so many memories that stick in your head and you simply smile when thinking about the "incident" because it was something totally awkward and weird and lifelike. It was an one of a kind experience, whatever it was. Everything you do, everything you say is a memory stuck somewhere inside that brain of yours and I think that's fascinating. I think all people are unique, beautiful and lovely. Everyone has that dream inside of that, that longing of meeting someone by coincidence and then utterly fall in love with each other. We all watch to many cheesy, corny romance movies to not yearn from time to time about something like that happening to us.

And all it takes is a bit of courage. All it takes is that last bit of you that still has faith in you, that still thinks you're attractive enough, that you are worth it. Because you are. That's simply the truth. I know it sometimes hard to acknowledge that to yourself, but it is crucial to do so to find inner peace with yourself. And you'll see how it'll effect your life, too. Somehow all the things will fall on their place and life will sort itself out. You first have to sort your thoughts out and lead them in right direction.

Now I wrote lots of reasons, cons and positives effects of meeting and getting to know a stranger but here is the short-list I made just for you:

  1. It is always fun to meet a random, new person:

"Why not?" you think to yourself and see what happens. The worst that can happen is that they'll just ignore you because they might think you have mental illness, but the best that can happen (and that's what you should keep reminding yourself with and the reason why you're doing it) is that you become totally good friends. You never know what's hiding in a person and I think it's magical every time to meet someone for the first time. They say the first impression is the most important and I could agree on that one because you simply feel the person; you feel if they fit you or they're just another acquaintance (which is nothing bad at all!). It's always nice to discover someone else's point of view on things and keep exploring. It's magical when someone tells you something they love or try to describe a passion about a thing they're so in love with doing and tells you about something that makes them happy, something special about them or just something they think is special in this world. You can easily walk away or you know keep in touch and get to know with something new they were talking about, try something new.

  2. You get to know them:

You get to see their other side they may not show to the people they know, because they also think of all this as a lovely spontaneous experience and that they've got nothing to lose. Sometimes confessions like this can help you a lot; you don't feel any obligation, pressure or hurry. You've got your time and (if you are their co-speaker) you decide if you wanna listen to it all (it depends on who took the first step of getting to know in the first place). It's interesting how many intimate things you can learn about someone in an instant. They can tell you so many things they think would be embarrassing telling to their even closest friends. We all have secrets we wouldn't even tell our best friends; now that doesn't mean that those deep secrets should be told in the opportunities like that, that was just a by-the-way fact. Everyone's gotta story they never tell, but sometimes, sharing it to a complete stranger who won't judge you, who won't keep reminding you of your past, taking it out and letting it go can be really relaxing in the end and you feel like you finally took that heavy burden off your shoulders.
  3. They share their story:

You never really know what someone has got in their mind and when they try to explain it to you and really put some effort in it, you can actually feel the tension of their thoughts still deciding if it's okay to share this with you or how should they put it, where to start, who to include, should I get too emotional or are they just another person who will calmly nod and will not care at all. Well these are the usual doubts when you get to know a person and you don't really know what to share with them - some kind of experience you've experienced lately, some stupid joke, something that's been bothering you for quite a while and you crave for someone to understand and so on with infinite possibilities. I could say the topic you choose depends on the person; you have to feel them before sharing anything. You don't know who they are, they don't know you and you never know if they're on of those shitheads who laugh at mental illnesses and disabilities so sometimes it is better to keep those deep, intimate and personal things to yourself. Not because you shouldn't trust people but because there are just so many lunatics nowadays that you just don't know what they'll do next. But if you feel that the person gets you, understands you and feels you, I think it's smart to share some bits of your story just to see where they go or what they think about this and that and if they actually listen or just wait for  their turn to talk. I've been watching people lately and observe how they talk and response and I've seen many people being very intolerant and listening to the co-speaker but not hearing a word. It's sad that the power of words have became so extinct.
  4. You two can become very good friends or even best buddies:

We all start off as strangers and I think that's the most charming thing about getting to know people. You don't know their story, they don't know yours and you give each other a fair fresh chance, a brand new beginning. And when you get past the point of feeling the person and if you get along with them that's really the best thing that can happen. Trust me, any kind of person would be pleasantly surprised if you came by and start off a cute chat. It's relaxing and something new, something everybody needs; a light, optional chat. But I think miracle happens when you two get along so well it kinda just click and you're connected like with nobody else before. They get you like nobody else does, like you've got the same brain (that's what me and my best friend say when we think the same thoughts at the exactly same time). Nothing can compare to some brand new friendship made.
  5. Your thoughts are about someone else, you're not so focused on yourself:

And I don't mean that you always think only about yourself but I want to point out that your thoughts are filled with pictures of someone else, you're contemplating about someone else, not maybe about your flaws, mistakes, where you've gone wrong or what you could have done better and what is so wrong with you. If you don't go out and meet someone new or maybe you know not in that same night but just that you go out in the world, see its wonderful parts, you might get caught in your own thoughts which can slowly become negative and dangerous for your whole, not only mind, but also body. They can control you and you really don't want that, trust me. You are your own enemy and you must first fight yourself (and win, of course) so that you are on a right track. Because you can always see those extra-positive writings on Tumblr and understanding them yet doing nothing about boosting your confidence and your social life. Still, it is hard to sometimes acknowledge that you need some new company, someone other to worry about. And it is more than nice to know that you have someone like that in your life.
  6. You never know who they might be or who they may know:

I'm sure you've heard of a phrase "Giving everyone a chance." That is somehow what I am trying to tell you. You really never know what kind of life they might have: a fucked up one, really interesting one, messy, full of adventures, boring or similar to yours. You can get to know a person that might be totally like you and you two will get along more than you expected. They might hide something you wouldn't expect in hundred years and people do surprise, you see. That's the best part of getting to know someone spontaneously.
  7. Clean slate/fresh start:

It's always nice when someone gives you a brand new opportunity, no matter who that person is - a stranger or an old friend. People should really get more familiar with how second chances do change people's lives and how they react on it. Life's too short to keep wondering if that's the right decision - life itself will show you. New things appear and when you look back, you'll be glad you took that chance. Everybody needs a brand new start from time to time, to let go of the bad things in the past, to have a chance to even change. People often complain on other people how they're stuck in the past or how they don't change - well if you won't even give them a chance to change how do you expect them to be totally different people all of a sudden? Many people have high standards, sometimes too high that no one can reach them. And at that moment, we just have to give each other a break, talk it through and let it go. Let it go, man.

The Best Things In Life Are Free: True Or False?

We are constantly surrounded by statements like: "The best things come free." and all that positive thinking along. But is it really true? I mean, I get it that when people say that they mostly mean things like love, joy and friends. These things do, however, come free, but by free it's mostly considered as not including money. For all these things that I counted, true dedication and believing yourself are present and these kind of things are what truly makes a person rich. Not money, not some kick-ass career (that may have influenced on your inner self, though) or super yachts. It's something that comes from within and that really takes effort and time to possess. And to get there, it actually takes a whole different kind of price for what you really want. It demands hard work that is often not quite what rich people own. There is a beautiful quote by Patrick Meagher: "Some people are so poor all they have is money." And that is, sadly, often correct. Peopl...

American Beauty

There are only few things in this world that are able to truly leave me speechless, astounded, and numb. I tend to believe I have seen a lot of things that have touched me right to the depths of my soul, making me feel like there is so much more life behind ordinary things. And those occassions are the reason we stay alive. May it be a soft breeze caressing your skin on a surprisingly warm March day that reminds you of the hidden wonders of nature, a sentimental gesture shared between a mother and a child that demonstrates the meaning of humanity and unconditional love or simply a flash of a moment in an ordinary day that keeps you sane and secured, knowing there is some magic hidden in these ordinary, seemingly unnoteworthy moments that we need to treasure and remember forever, and that even though we are aware of this magic, we could never reach it. And that is the beauty of it. However, when I saw this movie it truly shook me, in a good way. I also recently watched Good Will Hunti...

I heard an airplane passing overhead. I wished I was on it

More and more I feel like I don't belong here, in this hell called school. It's not like I'm unwanted in society, it's more like how I'm being somehow ignored, but not directly. I can still laugh with my girl friends and have a good time at school breakes, but when we like have a free hour or we just don't do anything in class, I can feel how I don't fit in. I then realise how different I am, or how every individual is different. But some girls, most of them actually, can still find something in common, something that makes them more wanted, that makes them popular and attractive. They're all the same, although I still believe everyone's special in some way. But it's like they all feel the same about that "love" they think they know what it is, they have opinions on things, same taste in music, same behaviour. And I'm so sick of it. So sick of everybody pretending, not showing their real feelings then pitying themselves later. And ...
